Description

These flying reptilian relatives are almost identical to dinosaurs. However, they don’t usually have teeth. Instead of using their sharp beaks to stab prey too large so that it can swallow in one go,

The wingspan for these flying reptiles is 15-20 feet. They dive to find small prey in the ocean, but they are also opportunists who will hunt any creature that looks edible. A pteranodon doesn’t have any teeth. Instead, they use their sharp beaks to cut prey too large to swallow in one bite.

Stats

This is pretty amazing stuff, slightly scary but still quite cool. Let’s now take a look at his statistics. The pteranodon, despite its massive wingspan, is classified as a medium-sized beast. However it is not aligned. This is a bit disappointing. AC is 13 with hit points of 13, calculated using 3d8. Normal speed 10ft, fly speed 60ft. This is likely to fly more frequently than others.

  • Type: Medium Bear, Unaligned
  • AC: 13
  • HP: 13(3D8)
  • Speed: Fly 60ft at 10ft

You can see that he is quite strong and has a lot dexterity. That’s all. Their abilities are not exceptional in other areas.

  • STR: 12(+1)
  • DEX: 15(+2)
  • CON: 10(+0)
  • INT: 2(-4)
  • WIS: 9(-1)
  • CHA: 5(-3)

They only get a +1 enhancement to their perception under the skills and a passive perception by 11. The Pteranodon also has access to flyby. They don’t generate chance attacks, which is a great thing. This is undoubtedly one of the most valuable abilities a flying creature can possess.

  • Skills: Perception
  • Senses: Passive perception 11
  • Flyby Doesn’t provoke an attack opportunity when it is out of reach.

Take Action

Let’s now take a look at the Pteranodon’s actions. A bit attack can be performed by the Pteranodon. It also has a melee weapon attack that deals +3 damage to hits, a range of only 5 feet and 6 piercing damages per hit. This can be calculated by rolling 2d4 then adding 1.

Bite:
  • Melee Weapon Attack
  • Hit +3
  • Reach 5 feet
  • One target
  • Hit: 6 (2d4+1), piercing damage

I like the flavor of Pteranodon, but its stats are lackingluster to me. I don’t find it to be too offensive, but it is time-sensitive. You have better choices. It is cool but it’s not the best.

Conclusion

That’s it! Please let me know what you think about the Pteranodon in the comment section. Please share any comments, suggestions, concerns, and questions you may have about it. Let’s get on with it! I wish you all a wonderful day!
