Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking into the 67th episode of our beast series. Today we’re gonna be taking a look at the Panther 5e monster which is super coo. It’s founded in the basic rules and it is considered to be a cr one quarter and netting you 50 experience points on a kill. CR:1/4(50XP). Now the panthers traditionally found in the forest grassland in hill environments, although i would make a strong argument for being found in jungles as well. But that’s just me and not wizards of the coast talking. Ultimately there’s couple things about this animal, i would change but we’ll get into that in a little bit here. That being said! i’ll take a quick look at the stats.
Table of Contents
So the panther is considered to be a medium beast and that is unaligned of course. Taking a look his AC 12 which isn’t bad, 13 hit points calculated by rolling 3d8 and a 50 feet of movement and a climb speed of 40 feet as well which is pretty terrifying when you think about it.
- Type: Medium Beast, Unaligned
- AC: 12
- HP: 13(3D8)
- Speed: 50ft, climb 40ft
Taking a look at actual d&d 5e panther stats, you’ll see that very strong, very dexterous and quite wise as well. Make for a pretty lethal combo.
- STR: 14(+2)
- DEX: 15(+2)
- CON: 10(+0)
- INT: 3(-4)
- WIS: 14(+2)
- CHA: 7(-2)
Under skills you’ll see a +4 to perception which is certainly nothing to snuff out and a +6 to stealth which makes this creature even more terrifying. Under senses you’ll only see a passive perception of 14. That’s actually a grievance i have with this stat block in particular. Given them darkvision kind of makes sense for them to have it. In my opinion all the cat should have it. But whatever, so i would probably homebrew that in…but if we’re going by raw they do not have it so just bear that in mind. Let’s take a quick look at some of his other traits.
Keen Smell: So the panthers access to keen smell which gives it an advantage on the wisdom (Perception) checks which rely on the smell.
Pounce: It also has access to pounce. Suppose, the panther dnd monster could move at least 20 ft., straight towards to a creature and also then hits it with the claw attack on the similar turn, which the target must be succeeded on the DC 12 Strength saving throw or else be knocked prone. Any how if the target is prone, then the panther able to make one bite attack against to it like a bonus action.
So it’s not quite multi attack but pretty cool stuff regardless. Now let’s take a quick look at his actions here. Have you checked our article called young black dragon 5e monster
So you can do two such as bite and claw. Both are melee weapon attacks, both are +4 to hit, both ever reach of a 5 feet and both can only target one creature. You can check the difference however is in the damage, the bite deals a 5 piercing damage calculated by rolling 1d6 and adding 2 and the claw attack deals a 4 slashing damage calculated by rolling 1d4 and adding 2.
Bite: With this bite attack this dnd 5e monster can make a Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage.
Claw: By using this claw monster it can make a Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) slashing damage.
So quite cool stuff very interesting. i really do like the panther. In terms of how i’d use it, kind of invisible stalkery, kind of vibes. Maybe i use them to build a sense of tension perhaps in your party, for example if someone does quite good on a perception check but not really enough to discover the panther, tell them that you feel as though you are being watched right now and it has malicious intent or a curious intent or whatever the case maybe.
Attributes Of Panther Monster DnD 5E
|Roll 0||Bite 1d20 + 4 1d6+2|
|Roll 1||Claw 1d20 + 4 1d4+2|
|Skills||Perception +4, Stealth +6|
|Speed||50 ft., climb 40 ft.|
That being said! let me know how you would use the panther in your games down beneath in the comments section, also let me know what you think of them, how you change them any thoughts, questions, comments or concerns all that good stuff. That being said i hope you all have a great day and as always happy researching my friends.
By RAW, strength 14 allows the animal to lift and drag 420 pounds. That’s probably two or three slender elves, but at least your own character. So no, riding your panther is not possible, because you are both of the same size.24-Mar-2015
Animal Cost Speed
————– —— ——
Donkey or mule 8 gp 40 ft.
Elephant 200 gp 40 ft.
Horse, draft 50 gp 40 ft.
Horse, riding 75 gp 60 ft.
Intelligent creatures, such as dragons, act independently. You can control a mount only if it has been trained to accept a rider. Domesticated horses, donkeys, and similar creatures are assumed to have such training. The initiative of a controlled mount changes to match yours when you mount it.
Animal Cost Capacity
————- —– ——–
Horse, draft 50 gp 540 lb.
Horse, riding 75 gp 480 lb.
Mastiff 25 gp 195 lb.
Pony 30 gp 225 lb.
Just curious about why tigers, panthers and cats don’t have dark vision..21-Mar-2017
